Moroccan singer/songwriter Karim Kharbouch, better known as French Montana, was among the millions of Muslims who celebrated Eid el-Fitr this week.
Surprisingly, American TV personality Kourtney Kardashian joined in on the Eid festivities and invited the rapper over for a Moroccan-themed dinner.
The long-time friends shared footage of the feast on Instagram, and it seemed like Montana was beyond grateful to Kardashian for paying tribute to his heritage.
Montana dated and broke up with Khloé Kardashian back in 2014, yet he remains close to the Kardashian-Jenner clan and regularly makes an appearance at their events. In commemoration of Eid, Kourtney Kardashian hosted a dinner themed "Moroccan Vibes" at her house in California, featuring Moroccan food and music. Montana was among the few guests invited to the intimate dinner.
On the menu was spicy lamb with rice, mint tea, and pancake pastilla, with Andalusian and Moroccan tunes playing in the background, according to Morocco World News.
In a video shared by Montana on Instagram, the rapper thanks Kourtney, the eldest of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, who is captured excitedly standing by the dinner table. "EID MUBARAK WITH MY RATATAA TWIN @kourtneykardash," captioned the video.
Born and raised in Morocco, Montana regularly highlights his Moroccan and Muslim roots. Back in May, on the first night of Ramadan, he wore the traditional Arab thobe to the 2019 Met Gala, but critics deemed his costume incompatible with the theme of the event, which was based on Susan Sontag's 1964 essay "Notes on Camp."
On the 27th day of Ramadan, he shared an Instagram post revealing he was taking part in Laylat al Qadr rituals, whereby Muslim worshipers commemorate the holy night the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
"May Allah forgive us and show us the way," he wrote in the caption.
Kourtney is no stranger to Muslim or North African culture, having previously dated Algerian model Younes Bendjima, who observed Ramadan 2019 and performed Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. While Bendjima tried to disconnect from the virtual world to make the best of the holy month, he later shared footage from his visit on Instagram, describing it as "the best experience" in his life.
During their relationship, Bendjima did not shy away from introducing his then-girlfriend to his culture. In an Instagram story shared in February 2018, Bendjima is seen blasting a classic Arabic song while Kourtney dances in the passenger seat.
In May 2018, prior to the breakup, Kourtney embraced Ramadan and shared a photo of a teacup accompanied with the caption: "Ramadan Spirit."
