Iran Launches Anti-ISIS Cartoon Competition

Adding to the good humor of the event, Iran's House of Cartoon asked artists to focus on “the crimes committed by the Islamic State (Isis)”. Fun times.

The Islamic State might not be the most popular group in the Middle East, but they have certainly succeeded in making a name for themselves in a short amount of time.

And now it seems that the Islamic Republic of Iran is looking to beat them at their own game, by launching an anti-Isis cartoon competition.

Cartoons and ISIS? Sounds like barrels of fun.

Hosted by Iran’s House of Cartoon, a total of 280 works have been selected from 800 submissions that originated from over 40 countries. The works will be displayed at four cultural centers across Tehran, with one winner announced on 31 May.

Adding to the good humor of the event, the House of Cartoon asked artists to focus on “the crimes committed by the Islamic State (Isis)”.

The last competition that the House of Cartoon held was for Holocaust comics, in response to the Charles Hebdo attacks. It was the second Holocaust comic competition that has been held in Iran.

Because what is more fun than genocide?
