Essam Nasser, an 86-year old Egyptian swimmer, participated in the international 800-meter freestyle swim race in the 85 to 89 age group at the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Masters Championship.
Even though, in initial results, he won a bronze medal, official results later on proved Nasser to be placed in 5th position; granting the bronze to Peruvian swimmer, Jose Penaloza.

The FINA World Masters Championship is a competition for athletes aging 25 and older. It includes several water sports disciplines for different age groups including swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and high diving.
This year's edition is held in Budapest, with an almost record-breaking 10,000 participants splashing in the water.
Earlier in July, Farida Osman made Egyptians proud by scoring a bronze medal at the FINA Swimming World Championships, becoming the first Egyptian to win a medal at this international swimming competition.
