Just a few months ago, Saudi Arabia's first and only robot citizen, Sophia, became friends with American model and cook, Chrissy Teigen ... and it seems as though her circle of friends is only expanding.
On Tuesday, Sophia shared a photo of herself posing with Real Madrid's very own, Cristiano Ronaldo, in a tweet that has since been making the rounds online.
"I may not be able to play football (yet) but meeting Cristiano was a great moment," Sophia tweeted.
But, it wasn't the photo itself that caught people's attention.
Rather, it was Ronaldo's "artificial" look that became the topic of discussion among tweeps online.
And that's when the jokes took over the social media platform.
Plastic level: Ronaldo or Sophia?
Legit questions were raised
"Standing next to you, he looks kind of artificial"
People were asking Sophia why she looks "more realistic" ...
"Your [facial] expressions look more human than his"
Others took the joke to another level
A picture of two robots?
One word: TWINS
Of course, this photo of Ronaldo had to make its way into the conversation...
Who is Sophia the Robot?
In October 2017, the robot became the first-ever humanoid robot to receive citizenship after she was granted the Saudi nationality.
Designed by Honk Kong-based Hanson Robotics, Robot Sophia was "created using breakthrough robotics and artificial intelligence technologies developed by David Hanson."
The software-powered robot was designed to look like actress Audrey Hepburn.
Considered one of the most advanced robots in the world, Sophia can animate all kinds of human expressions and grasp emotions through interacting with people.
