Prominent Jordanian businesswomen Soraya and Jumana Salti were found dead Saturday in Amman.

The Jordan Times quoted a security source as saying the sisters had committed suicide, though friends of the two are calling for an investigation.

Soraya Salti, 45, was the founder and former CEO of Injaz Al Arab, the regional affiliate of Junior Achievement. With operations in 14 countries, the NGO focuses on business education and entrepreneurship.

Soraya won numerous business awards and frequently appeared on lists of the most powerful business people in the Arab world.

Jumana Salti, 37, was a director at PwC’s Advisory Group, based in Dubai, according to Arabian Business . She had also previously served in several positions for the royal family of Jordan.

After the news of the broke Saturday, there was an outpouring of grief and shock on social media, with business and civil society leaders expressing their condolences for the sisters, who came from a prominent Jordanian family.
