Millions perform Eid prayers in Mecca and Medina, here's a look

In Islam's two holiest sites.

Millions of Muslim worshippers have performed Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina and the Grand Mosque in Mecca this year, Saudi media reported on Monday.

Many lined up for hours before prayer time and hundreds of thousands "filled the corridors of the Prophet’s Mosque to pray." Many more crowded into the Grand Mosque as well.

Every year millions arrive in Saudi Arabia to perform their Islamic pilgrimage, and many stay in order to observe Eid prayers at the two holiest mosques in the world.

The prayers mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and were held in mosques across the kingdom and the Arab world on Sunday.
