According to Al Arabiya, a 30-year-old Egyptian man faced trial in a Dubai court after blackmailing and threatening a flight attendant to misuse private photos if she does not attempt to land him a job at the airline she works at.
The 33-year-old woman, whose name has not been identified, claimed that the man began harassing her after she refused to marry him. The two had initially met at a telecommunications company in 2016 and became intimately involved soon after.
In 2017, the man lost his job and threatened to send private photos of the flight attendant to her ex-husband and her boss if she does not help him secure another job. She broke up with him and blocked him on WhatsApp.
"On July 6, 2017, he sent me a message that he would force me to lose my job after disgracing me among my family members and among the directors where I worked," the victim said.
"He also said he would describe my house to my ex-husband. He also blackmailed me and threatened to misuse his photos with my son to damage my reputation unless I did get him the job he wanted. After I had a mental breakdown, I complained against him at Al Rafaa police station," the woman added, according to Khaleej Times.
"Tempted by the devil"...
However, the man did not stop there.
After reporting him to the police, the man continued harassing her and demanded that she must drop the complaint.
She then discovered that he had "stolen her cheques from her car," which she reported to the Sharjah Public Prosecution.
Following the incident, a third party source met with the two at the request of the Egyptian man to help him "reconcile" with the woman.
In July, the man claimed he was "tempted by the devil" when he stole the cheques and asked her to drop the case. In return, he would return the cheques and sign a pledge to stay away from her.
"He did nothing of that," the witness said, according to Khaleej Times.
