In a statement she shared on social media, Syrian singer Rasha Rizk, officially announced her nomination for two 2018 Grammy Awards.
Rizk, who posted the news on both her Facebook and Instagram accounts, is nominated for the 'Best New Artist' award.
Her latest record Malak (Angel), is also nominated for the 'Best World Music Album,' award.
The award ceremony is set to be held on January 28, 2018.
Who is Rasha Rizk?
The talented singer was born in Damascus in 1976 and started singing at the age of nine.
Now based in Paris, France, the artist is trained in classical music, having graduated from the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus in 2002.
She also studied trade and French literature by correspondence at the University of Sorbonne, France.
In 1995, Rizk started writing and recording children theme songs for the popular TV channel, Spacetoon. She's the voice behind the channel's most iconic cartoon show tunes.
She also launched the Jazz band "Itar Sham3," which saw her collaborate with guitarist Ibrahim Sulaimany on 2 albums: Our Home andThe Game.
In recent years, Rizk's successful career has gone from strength to strength.
In addition to singing film tracks and composing her own music, she has also performed in concerts and operas around the world.
Her latest album Malak (Angel) was released 5 years after she arrived in France.
