Saudi police arrested a man who let an 8-year-old drive his car

Saudi Arabia's Traffic Authority has arrested a man after footage of an 8-year-old driving his car on a Jeddah highway went viral on social media. 

The arrest was announced in a tweet shared via their official Twitter account on Monday.

The now-viral video had shocked people over the weekend, with many calling on authorities to take action against the adult seen in the passenger seat.

"Recklessness."

"There's no strength or power but in God, an 8-year-old, no comment."

"A great step for the Traffic Authority because parents allowing their underage children to drive is something we've come to see often."

"Similar incidents take place all over Mecca, I hope they impose strict punishments on this father."
