UAE residents pay respects to 45 fallen soldiers on Twitter

More than 40 Emirati soldiers were laid to rest Friday morning after arriving from Yemen. The UAE community took to Twitter to welcome them home.

After UAE authorities announced three days of mourning for the 45 soldiers who have died while in combat in Yemen, many took to Twitter to pay their respects and express pride in these men's service to their country. Using the hashtag #UAEStrong, Twitter users acknowledged the efforts made by the fallen soldiers, who were seen as legends.

The bodies of more than 40 UAE soldiers arrived Friday morning in Abu Dhabi to be laid to rest and honored for their service in the Saudi-led offensive in Yemen, The National reported. The UAE daily said that the men were killed the same day after a rocket was launched at an ammunition warehouse, causing several explosions and the death of Emirati and Yemeni soldiers.
