Emirati Jalal Bin Thaneya isn't your ordinary athlete. Setting out to walk across all seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, Thaneya has finally achieved his goal.

The journey, which aimed to raise awareness for people with special needs, was initially planned to take just seven days. But, with complications along the way, it ultimately took Thaneya a bit longer.

Battling the heat, scarce food and unpaved roads, Thaneya accomplished his goal in twice the planned time, 14 days.

Thaneya initially aimed to set a new Guinness World Record.

The rules initially set by the Guinness officials said that 700 kilometers must be crossed in seven days to gain a record title.

Instead, Thaneya covered 810 kilometers in 14 days, according to Gulf News

His journey started with packing and anticipation

Until the paranoia and anxiety kicked in

The calm before the storm

And the journey began ...

Off to a not-so-easy start

Technical problems ensued

Determination kept him going

No sleep

No food, no supplies

Weather changes

"Wandering" in its truest form

Bumpy roads getting in the way

Running low on energy

Keep going, keep going

Can't see

Making it to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman

Then Al Rashidiya ...

When your body is saying no, but your mind is saying YES

Crossing into Fujeirah, the light at the end of the tunnel!

And finally ... the journey is complete, well done!
