Save The Children, the world's leading organization for children, has released a film highlighting the plight of child refugees. Inspired by the stories of children refugees, who had fled their war-stricken homes, the film is the farthest thing from fiction. It's real.
"This shouldn't happen to to anyone, anywhere, yet thousands of children are going through it," the NGO said on Twitter .
In the video, a girl who goes by the name Lily, is at first shown living in the refugee camp until she was separated from her parents and was forced to go on a oceanic voyage all by herself...sounds like a story we've all heard before, right?
Children all around the world are being faced with this, and Syrian children have been on the run for nearly five years now. An estimated 4.6 million Syrians are refugees, of which half are children, according to World Vision .
The ongoing Syrian war has not only taken lives of innocent children, but has resulted in many being seperated from their parents, forced to flee their homes, many of which have become ill, malnourished or abused. Not to forget the thousands who have been forced to quit school.
This isn't the first time the NGO has come out with a powerful video, breaking hearts all around the world. In fact, the recent video is a sequel to one you've probably all watched, featuring Lily as well. Back in 2014, the NGO released a film that garnered over 50 million views which tells the story of how Lily went from celebrating her birthday to fleeing her home due to war.
