Late on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia's General Sports Authority officially banned 'sleepwear' in sports stadiums.

In a statement published on their Twitter page, officials wrote:

"The head of the kingdom's General Sports Authority Mr. Turky Bin Abdel Muhsen Al Sheikh ordered a ban on all inappropriate clothing worn by sports fans at stadiums across the country."

According to the statement, the ban is set to take immediate effect at sports venues across the country.

Tweeps went wild over the news...

As soon as news of the ban hit social media feeds, people went wild and thousands are now sharing their reactions via the 'ban on sleepwear in stadiums,' hashtag.

People are super excited over the news

"Congratulations everyone! Let's hope this spreads to all public spaces."

"The best news I've heard today"

Many are thanking the head of the authority

"We thank the head of the General Sports Authority. We're incredibly pleased with this decision."

People want a similar ban in all public spaces

"I wish they'd issue a similar ban in all public spaces... malls, parks and everywhere else."

However, a few are against the ban

"Violating people's personal freedoms has reached this! They can't even choose what to wear. If someone doesn't want to wear the garment, they will choose not to, they shouldn't be banned."

"This is a ban on modesty."

"I am going to wear whatever I want. As long as I am covered, it's none of anyone's business"
