Majid, 11, Emirati boy and cartoon beloved by children and adults alike, will have his own channel thanks to the Abu Dhabi Media company. The project, which was first announced in March, will be launching with 150 hours of new content.

The channel, conveniently Majid Channel (in case you get confused or something), will go live Sept. 25 and will operate on a 24-hour basis. Majid first enchanted readers 37 years ago when the magazine, and later the comic book, was released.

Ever since, Majid grew to become loved in all of the Arab world. He will be returning with old pals Kaslan, Karamella and Captain Khalfkan, to go on new adventures that will both entertain and educate viewers.

"I have so many childhood memories connected with Majid magazine and I would like to express my appreciation to all those involved in establishing the TV channel, which plays a vital role in preserving both the Arab and UAE cultures and traditions in a creative and entertaining way," Ali bin Tamim, ADM board member and Cultural and Heritage Affairs advisor at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, told Khaleej Times .

The chairman and managing director of the media company, Mohammed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, expressed a need for Arabic-language children's shows in the Arab world.

"Arabic language shows for children make up less than 35 percent of the total number of children's shows aired in the UAE as a whole, 88 percent of which are not even produced in the Arab world," he said.

By 2030, it is expected that 1.5 million Arabic-speaking children between the ages four and 14 will be living in the UAE.
