A short animated film by a Kuwaiti artist has been drawing significant online traffic since it was made public via Vimeo Friday. The film was also released on YouTube on Sunday.

"Sandarah," Yousef Al Bagshi 's 7-minute solo animation project, showcases a vignette from the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. A young photographer has been forced to join his country's military and is on patrol with his unit. When they enter a house in an abandoned neighborhood, the young man must make a choice that connects to his past work as a photographer.

The film took Baghshi more than a year to create and is his first animated film. There is no dialogue in the film, so any viewer can easily follow the simple narrative. It screened at the Dubai International Film Festival in December.
