The seventh installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise raced to the top of the box office in its debut weekend, pulling in more than $380 million in worldwide receipts .
"Furious 7," which features Paul Walker’s final onscreen appearance after he died while it was in production, is now the fourth-highest opening of all time globally and the biggest April opening weekend ever.
“Furious 7" also grossed more during its opening weekend than any of the first four installments made at the box office - an impressive feat for the seventh in a series.
"This franchise took the road less travelled and became a trailblazer,” box office analyst Jeff Bock told Variety magazine . "You don't have the highest-grossing film in a series come seven films into a franchise. That has a lot to do with the way they're continually upping the ante."
Filmed partially in Abu Dhabi, “Furious 7” offered a big screen debut for the first Arab luxury sports car - the Lykan Hypersport .
