A Dubai customs humanoid robot just won the 2016 World Ideas Awards for its high-tech artificial intelligence and ability to carry out everyday human tasks, Gulf News reported.

The robot, which is a first of its kind, was designed to work and be part of the inspectors unit at Dubai customs. This robot is capable of face identification, reading body language, luggage tracking and thermal scanning.

As you have probably already noticed in the photo above, the robot was given Arab features. It was also dressed in typical Arab attire.

This automaton is a step forward for companies who are looking towards integrating more artificial intelligence in the scope of their work.

The World Ideas Awards for 2016, which was held in Germany, gave competitors the chance to submit their big ideas in 2016 but only recently announced the winner. An international jury was tasked with looking over the submissions.

“This award urges us to keep up the good work in order to always be an example to follow as a world-leading customs administration,” said Ahmad Kazim, a Dubai Customs official told Gulf News.
