Egypt's prime minister has fired the justice minister, Ahmed Al-Zind, over "blasphemous" remarks he made about putting the prophet in jail. The remark was made in a televised interview Friday, when the minister tried to show his passion for justice by saying that he would even imprison the Prophet Mohammed if he committed a crime.

The now-former justice minister has a long and complicated history with the Muslim Brotherhood, as he has been outspoken in his criticism of the group, and was against the revolt that ended with bringing the group to power.

The Egyptian judges issued a statement in which they criticised Zind’s removal over a "slip of the tongue," according to Reuters .

Twitter was quick to react to the news, with most users expressing their joy about the decision, although it came with some criticism.

"Don't dream of a new minister of justice, after every Zind leaves another Zind comes again..."

"Egyptian Minister sacked after a comment about the prophet

But the imprisonment of thousands is OK."
