For years, countries around the world have been cracking down on phone use while driving, but Oman is about to take it to the next level.
A draft law approved by the sultanate's Majlis Al Shura would punish drivers using their phones with jail time.
"The use of cell phones while driving is a punishable crime. The violator will have to pay OMR300 fine and has to serve a jail term for a period ranging between one month and two years," the head of legal committee in Majlis Al Shura Mohammed Al Zedjali said, according to Times of Oman .
