A Bahraini student, 22, had his three-month jail sentence upheld by the country's High Criminal Court for assaulting a teacher, the Gulf Daily News reported Monday, after the student appealed his sentence.

While taking an exam at Al Jabriya Technical School, the student was asked by his teacher to stop using his mobile phone. The student then insulted the victim, spat on him and proceeded to beat him. He also held the teacher by the neck and threw a table on him, injuring the teacher's finger, before leaving the classroom to come back and throw a chair inside the room.
