A 23-old Omani woman who threatened to chop her husband up and set him on fire on a live radio show has been arrested by authorities, The Times of Oman reported earlier this week.
The incident took place on September 6 after the radio show's host asked listeners to express their opinions on revenge.
The woman then called and began a rant that left everyone in shock.
"Honestly, if I want to avenge, the first person I think I would retaliate against is my husband,” she said.
“I will cut him with a knife and burn him. I will burn my husband and his car," she added.
She then went on to explain that she had never trusted her husband and added that it was ok if she were to be imprisoned for any actions she would take against him.
“Even if they imprison me forever, or I am sentenced to death, it’s okay. The most important thing for me is that I am mentally relaxed. Even my children will get better, and they will continue living.”
The call angered the radio host and listeners
A minute into the woman's call, the radio host began to reason with her.
"You spoke and expressed your feelings; you do not need to use these words. Do not go and do anything that can ruin your life and the future of your children, because you are the one who is thinking this way," he said.
When the woman kept going, he then had to end the call saying: “That is enough!”
Soon after a recording of the live call began to make the rounds online, authorities took action against the woman.
A source from the Royal Oman Police said she has now been arrested "for threatening to kill her husband on a private radio station."
"Threatening to murder is a felony (charge), and the suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution,” the source added.
She is now being investigated on charges of attempted murder.
According to The Times of Oman, "Article 109 of Oman’s penal code states that attempted murder carries a sentence of 10 years."
