Authorities in Saudi Arabia's coastal city of Jeddah fired a security supervisor for throwing hot tea at an expat worker who was serving him at a kiosk, Okaz newspaper reported.
This came after footage capturing the demeaning assault went viral on Saudi Twitter, angering thousands who were left shocked by it.
In the video, the Saudi man, who had just thrown a boiling cup of tea at the victim, is seen walking back to the kiosk, arrogantly asking that he is served another cup.
Women who were at the scene are then seen objecting to the Saudi man's actions, arguing with him over the abuse they witnessed the Asian worker endure.
The incident angered hundreds of Saudis online
"This supervisor thinks people won't object to his unjust, racist actions because the worker isn't Saudi. But what he doesn't know is that people no longer discriminate over a person's nationality. Look at how surprised he was when people defended the worker."
"Some people can't wait until they're in power, in order to use it in the worst of ways"
And led many to raise this point...
"The majority of people in the kingdom mistreat expats. If they're fearful of you and can't stand against you, it's because they're scared of losing their jobs. If it wasn't for their circumstances, they wouldn't have come here to make a living and wouldn't have endured any of this."
"He's a human being, equal to you. If your job position is higher than his, it doesn't mean he's your slave!"
"How much longer will we see people degrading expats and mistreating them? Regression is never-ending here."
Tweeps hailed the Saudi women who defended the worker in the footage...
"Good on these girls, each one of them is better than a hundred women combined. These are Saudi women, the kingdom's pride."
"When a woman is better than ten men"
People called on authorities to take action...
"This supervisor must be held accountable. And good on these Saudi girls."
And were relieved when they heard of the firing
"We thank Jeddah's Amanah for taking action and firing this ill-mannered supervisor. It sends a message to everyone that this kind of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
