Abu Dhabi's Yasalam Festival searching for UAE's best musical talent

The Emerging Talent Competition winner will get the chance to perform alongside top-notch international acts during the concert series.

Hey budding musicians in the United Arab Emirates, it's time to pull out your instruments, gather the crew and start rehearsing.

The 2015 Yasalam Festival, organized by FLASH Entertainment and held in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, has opened its first ever Emerging Talent Competition to music artists and bands based in the UAE. The winner will get the chance to perform alongside a top-notch line-up of international acts during the concert series.

"We’ve sought out the best of the UAE talent and today we are excited to introduce the next stage in our music evolution — the Emerging Talent Competition," Flash Entertainment’s CEO John Lickrish said, according to Gulf News.

If you're worried that your music isn't exactly the right genre for the competition, think again. Flash Entertainment said it is looking for musical acts from all genres.

But hurry, you have just over a month to prepare your entry before the Oct. 3 deadline. Remember, you must be a resident of the UAE and at least 16 years old to compete.

Out of all the competitors, 10 musical acts will be shortlisted. These artists or bands will complete three weeks of workshops and training sessions, then three finalists will be selected.

All three finalists will go on to perform live at the F1 Fanzone stage in front of a panel of judges on Nov. 21. The artist or band deemed the winner by the judges will go on to perform in front of thousands at various events during the festival.
