The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2018 the Year of Zayed.
2018 will mark the 100th birth anniversary of the country's late founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away in 2004.
This week’s announcement also coincides with the anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s Accession Day - the day he assumed leadership in Abu Dhabi on August 6, 1966.
Consistent with the values of the late Shaikh, the Year of Zayed's aim is to encourage the involvement of people of all ages, nationalities, faiths, and backgrounds in everything UAE related, both locally and internationally.
The Year of Zayed will also highlight the role of the late leader in establishing the UAE Federation and his local, regional and global achievements.

10. On being prepared for change...
"Situations change from time to time. A friend may become an enemy and an enemy a friend. Life is inconsistent and ever changing. So are health and weather. We must, therefore, be prepared for the unexpected changes coming our way."
11. The real spirit behind the progress
