For many global celebrities, Dubai is an iconic must-visit destination. Superstars usually spend their holidays in the City of Gold or have made this place their second home.
Some bought properties, others endorsed brands from the city, and many simply fell in love with Dubai and kept coming back.
The long list of celebrities who you might run into in Dubai will make Hollywood blush.
Here are just a few of them:
1. Amr Diab
Many years ago, the Egyptian pop singer Amr Diab chose Dubai as a preferred home for his family. To avoid the political turbulence of Egypt following the 2011 Arab uprisings, the star moved his four children to Dubai so they can continue to study in the Emirate.
2. David and Victoria Beckham
Dubai is not just home to Arab celebrities; the Emirate has also been attracting stars from across the world. David and Victoria Beckham have owned properties in Dubai since 2008.
Apparently, David was impressed with the Palm when he visited Dubai during one of his training camps with the England football squad. At the time, it was still under construction but he managed to buy one of the much sought-after properties before they sold out.
A similar story occurred with the purchase of his second property at the Burj Khalifa.
3. Mohamed Saad
Another Egyptian star you might run into in Dubai is Mohammed Saad.
The actor who became famous for his hit movie series Lembi has been based in Dubai with his family since 2011. He only goes to Egypt on short work-related visits, after which he returns back to Dubai immediately.
4. Shilpa Shetty
Just like the City of Gold attracts stars from Europe and the U.S., it also attracts numerous Bollywood celebrity, such as Shilpa Shetty.
In 2010, the Indian actress was gifted an apartment in Burj Khalifa by her husband as a wedding gift. However, she sold the apartment shortly afterward because a two-bedroom apartment was too small for her and her child.
5. Giorgio Armani
Not only does the legendary fashion icon Georgio Armani own property in Dubai, the Italian designer has given his name to the hotel that occupies the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.
Ever since the hotel’s launch in 2010, he’s been a regular visitor to Dubai to promote his brand, attend to his busy business agenda in the Emirate, and enjoy everything else the city has to offer.
6. Shahrukh Khan
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan reportedly said that he has always considered Dubai to be his second home. He has also been seen in many hotels around the city.
Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he too owns a holiday house in the Emirate. Located on in a posh area in Palm Jumeirah, the two-story villa includes six bedrooms, two garages, and a private beach.
7. Madonna
If you grew up watching Madonna, thinking that you will never get the chance to meet her, the best place to run into the star might just be Dubai. The international celebrity owns a mansion on The World Islands.
You might not be able to get a glimpse of her on this large isolated property that includes a private beach, but at least you know you're just a couple of kilometers away from the pop legend...
8. Shirin Abdel Wahhab
The Egyptian singer Shirin Abded Wahhab has been known to divide her work between Egypt and Lebanon. But she was also, for a considerable period of time, a regular visitor to Dubai.
She reportedly visits the Emirate frequently to meet with her private dentist who is based here.
9. Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise spent a lot of time in Dubai during the shooting of his movie Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which features him climbing 1,700 feet up the Burj Khalifa.
He enjoyed Dubai so much that he returned the following year as one of the exclusive guests at the Dubai International Film Festival.
Ever since, the superstar has been repeatedly seen around Madinat Jumeirah and Atlantis, The Palm.
10. Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan, son of the legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, and his wife Aishwarya Rai own a luxury bungalow in Dubai’s Emirates Hills neighborhood.
When they first purchased it, the couple threw an extravagant party at the Burj Al Arab, one of the Emirate’s most luxurious hotels.
