Iraqi-British Zaha Hadid continues to sweep the architectural world after winning the prestigious Emporis Skyscraper Award for her Wangjing SOHO tower in the Chinese capital.
The award specifically looks at architectural buildings higher than 100 meters completed in the last calendar year, meaning 2014.
Wangjing SOHO consists of three towers 118, 127, and 200 meters in height designed to look like three interweaving mountains.
Also on the list was the Foster and Partners-designed Burj Mohammad Bin Rashid in Abu Dhabi, which was was ranked the sixth best skyscraper in the world.
According to the statement released by the award committee, the structure "impressed the jury by its excellent energy efficiency and its distinctive design."
While Hadid, who's been featured on Arabian Business' Powerful Women in the Middle East list, is no stranger to being honored for her neofuturistic buildings, the award marked a first for a Chinese development.
