Because watching the largest quadrennial sporting event on television is too mainstream, Qatar's National Olympic Committee is giving us the chance to witness the Rio 2016 Olympic action live.
In partnership with its national sponsors Ooredoo Qatar, Qatar Airways and Qatar Insurance Company, the NOC has launched a competition on social media, offering one lucky pair a "Dream Package" trip to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games. The committee aims to gain momentum for Qatar's 2016 Olympic team and promote its #YallaQatar campaign.
The competition does not call for any purchases or entry fees. Whoever likes the post and comments with #YallaQatar will enter a draw that will occur on August 9. The winner will be randomly chosen by the QOC and its agents. However, the QOC has limited participants to residents of Qatar who are over 18 years of age, permitted to access Twitter, Instagram and Facebook in Qatar.
The prize includes two return Qatar Airways Business Class tickets to Sao Paulo, arranged internal flights to Rio, plus five nights’ accommodation in twin-bedroom at a 5-star hotel.
Additionally, the winner gets two Samsung smartphones with Ooredoo Passport (for roaming services), two Worldwide QIC Group travel insurance, tickets for Qatar's Olympic matches, along with an unlimited access to Bayt Qatar.
The winner and his or her companion will leave for Rio on August 14 and depart on August 19.
While simply commenting on the post enters them into the competition, applicants went the extra mile and expressed what winning the trip would mean to them.
This girl had some extra incentive
While this guy has done his homework
But some forgot the necessary hashtag
The Dream Package winner will seize the chance to watch Qatari athletes take on the world's top athletes at the Olympic extravaganza. Qatar's 2016 Olympic squad is the nation's largest ever and will partake in athletics, equestrian, swimming, shooters, table-tennis, beach volleyball, handball, judo, boxing and weightlifting.
