The petition asks governments to ensure all refugee children get an education, every refugee family can settle somewhere safe, and finally that every refugee can work or learn new skills in the community they are a part of.
Many have taken to social media to express their support for refugees from all over the world. Cate Blanchett, a UNHCR goodwill ambassador, is among the many who stand #WithRefugees.
The petition is expected to be delivered to the UN headquarters in New York ahead of the UN General Assembly meeting, which is set to take place on September 19.
