On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia's national football team lost 2-1 to the UAE in a Group B World Cup qualifying football game.
The game was held at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium and is part of the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
Even after this loss, Saudi Arabia remains in the second place of Asia's Group B qualifying tournaments.
The team will now need to win an upcoming match with Japan in order to secure a place in the upcoming qualifying rounds.
The UAE, which now holds the fourth place in the same group, also has one remaining match against Iraq. But experts believe the team's chances of advancing to the next qualifying round are quite slim.
Social media meltdown
Soon after the Saudi-Emirati match ended, thousands of people took to social media, reacting to the results via the now trending hashtag: 'Emirates/Saudi Arabia.'
While a few Saudi football fans were quite disappointed, to say the least, others congratulated the UAE on the win.
