Back in May, a woman in Qatar, Shorooq Al-Sulaiti, died while giving birth at Women's Hospital. Ali Ghanim Al-Himaidi, her husband, is now demanding answers, according to Doha News .
While giving labor, Sulaiti's heart failed. Her husband was told she was in a stable condition after being transferred to the intensive care unit at Hamad General Hospital.
“It wasn’t until we made it to Hamad General that the doctor told me she was dead. I accused him of killing her and he swore to me that she was already dead by the time she was brought there,” Himaidi said, according to Doha News .
Although the hospital agreed to do an investigation, Himaidi has only received conflicting reports about how exactly his wife died.
Since the incident happened, many have taken to Twitter to express their support and concern over the incident under the hashtag #ShorooqAlSulaiti ( شروق_السليطي ).
Many are just looking for the truth...
*The "truth" is not found in the health report about the death of Shorooq Al Salaiti. We are all the brothers of Shorooq.*
While others are scared this won't be the last tragedy of the sort to happen
*I'm afraid that this tragic incident will recur in another home*
Many have lost their trust in the health ministry in the country...
*It is every person's right to lose trust in the Health Ministry after Shorooq's death.*
And everyone is standing with and for #Shorooq
*We are all the brothers of Shorooq and we are all demanding the right for any person asking for the truth and to empathize with the dead and her family.*
While others are wondering what would have been the case if the incident happened to a foreigner
*If Shorooq had been of American or European origins, would there have been silence and apathy from the ministry of health?*
The Ministry of Public Health has since issued a statement regarding the woman's death. The ministry informed the public that a committee has been investigating the incident for the past two months.
*The Ministry of public health continues to investigate the death of a Qatari citizen during labor at the Women's Hospital which is linked to Hamad General Hospital.*
