Spend as much time walking down airport hallways as staying at home? Then this suitcase might be for you.

This techie carry-on solves a few of the problems that frequent travelers face, from lost bags to dying phones. Unfortunately, it doesn't help with unruly passengers or missed flights, but at least you'll be commuting in style.

Connected to your phone through a specially developed app, Bluesmart luggage can do a lot. Here are our favorite feautures.

Geolocation tracking

If your suitcase is misplaced or shipped to another country, you can locate its whereabouts using the Bluesmart network. According to the Bluesmart, eventually their network will cover the entire globe.

Proximity alert

After long hours of travel, your attention to detail can wane. If you lose focus and head for your gate without your carry-on, you’ll automatically be alerted through the Bluesmart app. To relocate your suitcase, the app has a proximity heat map.

Added bonus? The suitcase can be set to instantly lock once you are outside of its radius.

Locking and unlocking through your Phone

Forget locks and keys, with Bluesmart, you can lock and unlock your carry-on through your phone.  Bluesmart Travel Sentry® Approved Lock is on track to be approved by the TSA, however until this feature is widely accepted at airports internationallly, it might be best to keep your gear in unlocked mode if you are flying.

Smart weight scale

There are few things in life that are more embarrassing than unpacking a suitcase at an airport check-in because you've gone over the weight limit. This suitcase can help you avoid this problem, even if you don't have a scale in your hotel room.

With a built-in digital scale, all you need to do is lift your suitcase with its handle and the app will tell you how much the suitcase weighs and whether the weight is approved by the airline.

Built-in battery

Whether you are traveling solo on a business trip or you are on an adventure with your friends, the last thing you need is your portable devices running out of juice. With Bluesmart, you’re backed up with a 37 Watt lithium-ion battery that supplies enough power to recharge your devices six times over. You can also recharge two devices simultaneously. That's a lot of Vines and Instagrams.

Quantifying trip data

This might not be an ideal feature for a spy, but the suitcase can track your travel patterns, keeping tabs on where you’ve been and how long you’ve been traveling.

The techie brains behind Bluesmart have been working on developing its features for over a year and with a few successful prototypes ready, they are now working on manufacturing the suitcases. They are also working on developing the corresponding app.

“All of team at Bluesmart are overjoyed at hitting the hallowed $1 million mark on Indiegogo," says Brian Chen, co-founder of Bluesmart, in a press release. "When we developed the product, we really felt we were providing something that travelers really wanted, and to have such overwhelmingly positive feedback is unbelievable."

You can pre-order your suitcase through Indiegogo for $235, a price-tag that is expected to double once the suitcase is mass produced. Pre-orders are planned to be delivered by August 2015.
