If you've been following 'Humans of New York,' then you've probably seen the photos and stories of those living in Macomb County, a northern suburb of Detroit.
They are mostly heartwarming and inspirational, in typical HONY style. Except one.
The one filled with hate. The one that blames Muslims for everything bad in this world. The one that forgets we're all humans of the world.
In HONY's latest series, one woman decided to make use of the opportunity to spread even more hate. Hate against Muslims.
“Don’t get me wrong. I want everyone to get along. And I don’t want to sound racist. But they’re coming into our country. If you ask me, that makes them racist. There’s something going on with the Muslims," she said.
"There’s something going on there. There’s a lot we don’t know about. They have a game plan. They want all the businesses. They want control. They want my grandchildren to work for them. I’m hoping he can do something about it. We need somebody to say no.”
HONY decided to focus on Macomb County in Michigan because the majority its voters chose Donald Trump in the recent U.S. presidential election. It was the first time in nearly 30 years that a Republican presidential candidate won in Michigan.
"I didn’t ask anyone who they voted for. Very few of the stories even touch on politics. And while the series cannot presume to be representative of an entire region, hopefully it will introduce you to a few of the people who live there," HONY wrote in a Facebook post.
People on social media didn't hold back in responding to the woman's Islamophobia.
