Perhaps Lebanon's most eccentric politician, MP and Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Joumblatt has drawn attention for his bizarre and off-the-cuff tweets ever since he launched his Twitter account last year.

However, Joumblatt just took it to another level with a series of witty and emoji-filled Tweets mocking Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and Putin as Bassil headed to Moscow. Lebanon and Russia are set to discuss the ongoing Syrian conflict.

While Russia backs the Syrian government, Joumblatt has long been a vocal opponent of Bashar al-Assad. Although Joumblatt is definitely expressing a political opinion, this series of Tweets should make anyone chuckle – or at least scratch their head.

He starts by asking Bassil to assure Russia that his residence is secure

He's concerned Russia might think ISIS is there, apparently

Because Russia has been bombing every group fighting against Assad, and Joumblatt prefers not to be included

But he's certain Putin only needs to be informed

And he is confident in Bassil's abilities

Now Joumblatt can sleep comfortably again

He wasn't really into the whole hiding in fear thing

Yet even in hiding, he kept his son in mind

It's just fortunate that the aging politician was able to manage despite cooling temperatures

Although he may have caught a mild cold

Rest well Joumblatt! To Tweet again another day ...
