On Monday, authorities in Saudi Arabia's Jazan governorate received a complaint regarding a group of men who entered a wedding hall on a donkey.
This came after videos of the incident circulated on Twitter, Sabq news site reported. In the clips, the defendants can be seen entering the hall on a donkey and playing around with fire extinguishers that were on the premises.
The men are set to stand trial in the coming few weeks as their case has now been referred to a local court.
Some on social media speculated that the group of men were the groom's friends who were trying to surprise him on his big day.
Others claimed the groom was challenged to enter his wedding on a donkey in return for money. Both versions of the story remain unconfirmed.
Some were all for the detainments
"This is what should happen. There must be a punishment so that other young men learn from this."
"I hope the person who sued them doesn't backtrack on the case"
"Let this be a lesson to those who defame our traditions and values."
Not everyone was pro-trial
"What put them on trial? Who ordered it? What's their crime? Did they harm anyone or steal anything?!"
"They're just kids, I don't get why they put them on trial?"
Not the first bizarre wedding entry to go viral in the kingdom
Last year, a Saudi groom broke arrived at his wedding reception in a carrier truck (sat7a). The newlywed decided to do so because the truck is his main source of income, which ultimately helped make the wedding happen.
