A Saudi businessman, father, and husband shaved his head and dyed his beard pink to show support to his wife, Dema, who is battling cancer for the second time.

Samer Kurdi launched the viral hashtag #SuperDema and dedicated it to his wife and everyone else who is fighting cancer.

The aim of the thread is to raise awareness about the disease and ways to battle it.

Kurdi's initiative was met by both positive and negative reactions, belittling his gesture and claiming that his campaign won't help cure his wife.

Nevertheless, the spirit of support to Kurdi and his family outweighed the criticism, and many tweeps joined the thread to voice their support.

Some prayed for Dema and shared their stories of success

While others shaved their head in solidarity

"I think he made her happy"

"This is the sweetest hashtag I’ve ever seen in my life"

"You got this, girl!"

"I love the way you support each other as a family"

Cancer patients stressed how important such support from family and friends is

"We as cancer patients continue to live because of the support form people around us. I urge everyone who has never experienced chemotherapy before, to not criticize this initiative and leave the commenting for positive people who love God and life!"

"The rough times come to pass!"

Support messages kept pouring in

"Moral support is crucial for cancer patients. Thank you to each husband, mother, father, son, or friend who stands by those fighting this battle. May God reward you all and heal all cancer warriors."

"Choose a man, not just a male!"

"Struggle adds value to our life. This cloud is going to pass"
