Muslim 500, an annual publication ranking influential Muslims since 2009, has just released its 2018 list, bringing to light the top 500 most influential Muslims.
The list aims to "recognize those who have managed to undertake exceptional accomplishments in a relatively short time span of one or two years," the publication says in a statement.
The ranking is divided into several categories, including Muslim man of the year (Pakistani Sadiq Khan), Muslim woman of the year (Moroccan Nawal al-Soufi) as well as ranking Muslims based on their popularity on social media.

Indian actor Aamir Khan ranked No. 10

Other category rankings: Saudi's King Salman ranked No. 2 in the generic Top 50 Muslims for 2018
The annual publication chose the Top 50 Muslims - not limited to a particular category or industry - which saw Sheikh Ahmad Mohammad Al-Tayyeb take the number 1 spot, followed by Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (No. 2) and Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein (No. 3).
The publication then added a "25 Honorable Mentions" category, in which Muslims were ranked depending on specific industries, including Rulers & Politicians, Scholars & Preachers and Social Issues, Media, Arts and Culture.
