A new emoji update has finally been rolled out, with 69 new individual symbols, including a hijabi.
This comes after the Unicode Consortium's 10th update, the organization responsible for the evolution of emoji, which includes Emoji 5.0.
It is expected that most vendors will add support for the new emojis in the second half of 2017.
They include a breastfeeding mother, a broccoli and a steak - among other things.
The update comes just a year after then 15-year-old Rayouf Alhumedhi sent a proposal to Unicode Consortium.
Alhumedhi came up with the idea after chatting with her friends in a Whatsapp group - where each person was asked to choose an emoji that represented them.
She realized none of the emojis at the time looked like her.
"With this enormous number of people, not a single space on the keyboard is reserved for them," the proposal read.
It caught the eye of Reddit's co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who not only promoted Alhumedhi's proposal but co-drafted it.
The 'HijabEmoji' has been requested over 11,986 times on EmojiRequest, a worldwide platform for requesting new Emojis.
And it looks like people's demands have finally been answered.
