The athletic world lost a true legend on Sunday. Former NBA player Kobe Bryant and one of his daughters were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. The Bryants were among seven others who died in the tragic accident, according to CNN.
The 41-year-old and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Maria Onore Bryant, were on their way to the Mamba Sports Academy for a basketball game. Gianna was scheduled to play in the game; Bryant was meant to coach.
The helicopter crash took place about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. It was initially reported that five people were killed in the crash, but the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department later confirmed that all nine people aboard had died.
Bryant's daughter was on her way to carry on her father's legacy. The 41-year-old began his basketball journey at the age of 3 and went on to become one of the NBA's greatest champions before retiring in 2016. The world, including the Arab region, is mourning the death of the Bryants. They are survived by wife/mother Vanessa Laine Bryant and daughters/sisters Natalia Diamante, Bianka Bella, and Capri Kobe.
