While the world has focused most of its attention on the Syrian refugee crisis' effect on Europe, the biggest crisis is actually in the country's neighbors, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.

Lebanese documentary filmmaker Zakaria Jaber  has released a new, reproduced version of "Zaalan: The Rose of Hamra Street," which was originally made in 2014.

The short documentary, posted on Vimeo, follows Zaalan, a young Syrian refugee, through a typical day, selling flowers in Beirut's popular Hamra neighborhood. Zaalan's tale is a common one, as youth selling flowers and begging have become a permanent fixture in the city's entertainment and pub districts.

"Zaalan" shows the humanity behind this young man, focusing on his daily struggle to survive away from home, a home that is being tore apart by war.

Zaalan's humor in the face of the hardships he is confronting is truly refreshing, and this short will leave you with a good feeling, showing you that no matter how hard it gets, a little humor can go a long way.
