Dubai has announced another bold plan to step into the future.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced Dubai's ambitious plan to implement driverless vehicles on Monday.
That's right, by 2030, Dubai residents will probably think twice before deciding they need a driver's license.
Not only are driverless vehicles super cool, they will also combat traffic congestion and decrease pollution.
Dubai is challenging the world's top research and development teams to apply driverless technology on a massive scale in the emirate.
The announcement comes as Dubai tests a 10-seat autonomous vehicle on a preprogramed route for the first time.
While numerous tech giants and entrepreneurs have been working to perfect driverless vehicles for several years, many still fear potential safety hazards.
However, CEO of Tesla Elon Musk said last week that his company's autopilot feature is 50 percent safer than a human driver.
"The probability of having an accident is 50 per cent lower if you have Autopilot on," said Musk according to The Telegraph . "Even with our first version, it's almost twice as good as a person."
