Dubai's crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed released on Tuesday the attention-grabbing trailer for a documentary prominently featuring the UAE.

Awaken explores humanity's relationship with technology and nature, utilizing time-lapse footage, time-dilation, underwater and aerial cinematography techniques.

With the production team, led by director Tom Lowe, based in Dubai, the film highlights the UAE as a place where one can "see a glimpse of the future."

"With this film we’ve created an immersive and unforgettable experience where the audience can explore the world in a whole new way," Omar Alsalman, General Manager of Dubai Film, which collaborated on the project, said, according to Arabian Business.

Lowe explained that one of the "driving forces" behind the film "was to film the natural world in a way that could compete on a spectacle level with large visual-effects-heavy blockbusters, while at the same time capture everything ‘in camera’, with no effects, compositing, or post-production tricks of any kind."

"Awaken spans the globe bringing unseen sights and breathtaking perspectives to the human eye for the first time," the Dubai Government said in a statement, according to The National.

The film took five years to produce and is set to be released next year.
