On Monday, in the presence of its chairman Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) officially launched Pulse 95, the emirate's first English-language radio station.
Pulse 95 will feature both Emirati as well as international voices and will be hosted by some of the community's most respected and well-known figures such as Sara Al Madani, Big Hass, Omar Al Busaidy, Sally Mousa, Ana Schofield, Anna Roberts, and Iman Al-Majali.
To keep listeners entertained and engaged - in addition to playing a vast range of music - the station will also cover local and international news stories, conduct interviews, and host talks.
"The launch of Pulse 95 is an exciting venture into a new market for Sharjah Media Corporation. We have seen a real need to fill the gap in English language output, particularly when so many of the emirate's residents use English in their day-to-day lives and increasingly conduct business in English," said SMC's chairman Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi.
For the first time in the region, in line with the brand of the station and its talk radio style, Pulse 95 is also bringing its listeners popular Top 40 chart music in an acoustic format.
"We have ensured that every aspect of the content is consistent and the introduction of the acoustic music element follows that perfectly, being complementary rather than intrusive," said Mohammed Yanez, the Head of Pulse 95, according to WAM news agency.
Themed as "The Heart of Sharjah", the newly-inaugurated station will broadcast across the UAE from its base in Sharjah on 95.0 FM.
Listeners from across the UAE will have several shows to choose from
Hosted by Sally Mousa, Sara Al Madani, and Omar Al Busaidy, 'The Morning Majlis' will run daily from 7-10 am and cover topics ranging from business, tech, and innovation to education, culture, and heritage.
Presenting 'Musafir in the City' on weekdays from 4-5 pm will be Anna Roberts who will travel across Sharjah with a focus on interviewing and profiling different places, people and events, reviving the traditional radio documentary format by complimenting audio with visuals.
'Yalla Home' will be brought to you by Big Hass and Ana Schofield on weekdays from 5-8 pm. Among others topics, this show will cover stories related to science, technology, business, and food.
