On Wednesday, Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos landed in Egypt's Hurghada city with his wife Pilar Rubio and the couple's children.
The footballer is said to have chosen the beach resort town to celebrate his honeymoon and spend time with his family.
According to Egypt Independent, the Spanish defender "will stay in a tourist village owned by Chairman of the Tourist Investment Association of the Red Sea governorate Kamel Abu Ali."
This is the first time the player visits Egypt and he certainly got quite the welcoming. The hotel where the star is staying was decorated with huge banners put up in his honor. Balloons, a red carpet, and live music were also part of the grand welcoming.
Before Ramos landed in Egypt, some social media users warned him against visiting the country, claiming locals were still holding a grudge against him due to an incident that saw him injure Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah.
Last year, the Liverpool forward suffered ligament damage in his shoulder following a controversial challenge involving the Spanish player.
At the time, thousands accused Ramos of deliberately attacking Salah, and Egyptians were furious with him.
However, seeing the welcoming he received upon his arrival in Egypt, it seems the football star has been forgiven by many.
