According to Saudi "religious healer" and "ruqyah specialist," Nayef Al Boqmi, humans aren't the only ones using messaging apps like WhatsApp.
Who else is? Well, jinn.
In a now-deleted tweet he posted earlier this week, Al Boqmi uploaded a screenshot of a conversation he had with one of his clients on the messaging app, claiming the man's jinn spoke through him during it.
Al Boqmi reportedly said he only uses the technique that brings out jinn on WhatsApp when a client can't come in for a physical consultation.
Speaking to Ajel news site, one of his female clients said he once told her there's nothing wrong with that since it helps people who are possessed.
Just hours later, the tweet went completely viral, and naturally, sparked a hilarious meltdown of the sorts.
The news is all over Saudi Twitter
Al Boqmi's reported statements continue to make the rounds online and are causing a frenzy on Saudi Twitter.
People just can't even
Others are speechless
Many are responding with sarcasm
And humor...
"Are they only on WhatsApp? Maybe they're sitting reading your tweet now."
"Jinn has advanced"
"This man needs to see a psychologist"
A few are upset over the news
"A nation who's got everyone laughing at its ignorance."
Amid the Twitter storm over the tweet, Al Boqmi responded
After the intense backlash and negative media attention his now-deleted tweet received, Al Boqmi backtracked on some of his statements, saying they were taken out of context.
In a tweet he posted on Wednesday, the "ruqyah specialist" explained that what is being published about him is inaccurate.
"What some newspapers published about me treating people through WhatsApp is false. The screenshot I posted captured a conversation I had with a patient who was asking me about his case. We were discussing his symptoms when his jinn suddenly took over and he started typing things that didn't sound like him. We later contacted him and it became clear that he was possessed. We follow sharia when it comes to all our ruqyah cases," he wrote in his tweet.
