In a humanitarian act on Tuesday night, a Saudi man saved a "stray dog" that was stuck in a well.
Speaking to Al Arabiya, the young man, Hani Al Nafii, and his brother heard a sound of distress in the middle of the night as they were at home - in a village south of Taif.
They hurried to check out where the sound was coming from, and found what Al Nafii described as "a scared stray dog stuck in a well."
"We lit the well and found a dog looking at us with fear in its eyes. I signaled at it and it moved its head as if it was begging for us to help it," he told Al Arabiya.
"I thought it would be inhumane to leave it there."
He quickly thought of a way to save the dog; he got a rope, got down the well, and tied up the helpless animal in hope of pulling it out.
As all went according to plan, the dog was "thankful" to its rescuers and remained by their house for a day before it went back to the wild.
The story is making the rounds on Saudi Twitter, inciting some tweeps to hail the young Saudi for his humanity and act of bravery, and others to criticize the dangerous state of the unattended well.
Some tweeps criticized the act of filming
"How did he film it at night?"
"No-one does anything these days without filming it"
Others focused on the wording of the tweet
"It seems like the one who wrote the tweet is influenced by the 'Five Adventurers' stories."
Many pointed out this issue
"The problem isn't over. The open well has no warning signs and isn't protected by safety measures to warn passersby."
"This open well could lead kids and elderly to fall in it!!"
Many hailed the Saudi man for his brave act
"God doesn't forget such good acts. May God provide us with more humanitarian men like this young Saudi."
