Saudi Arabia's Traffic Authority announced the arrest of a man who was filmed throwing himself in front of a truck earlier last week.

The arrest was announced in a tweet posted on the authority's official Twitter page on Saturday.

It came just days after footage of the man's reckless stunt went viral on Saudi Twitter, angering thousands who were shocked by it.

The video had sparked outrage online...

In the nine-second video, the man can be seen getting ready to jump in front of a truck approaching him on one of the kingdom's roads.

When it gets closer to him, the man jumps and narrowly escapes being hit.

The footage capturing the incident was uploaded on Twitter last week and led to intense backlash among Saudi tweeps who were outraged at the man's dangerous leap.

People are now reacting to news of the arrest...

Many are still angry over the man's actions

"He's reckless."

And think he absolutely deserves to be arrested...

"He deserves this, his recklessness won't be of use to him now."

Some believe the man needs to be jailed...

"The best news ever, we hope he's jailed too."

Others favor him getting psychological help

"He deserves to be treated and kept in a mental health facility until he gets better. If he refuses that, then he should be punished."

"He risked his life for fame"

Some are calling on authorities to announce the punishment

"Even if for just one time, announce the punishment."

Others thanked them for their efforts

"A huge thank you to Traffic Police who work hard to arrest these reckless men."
