Saudi Arabia, Saudi nurses save man's life, Saudi nurses, Saudi women

God works in mysterious ways; a saying that's been proven many times, and one more this weekend in Saudi Arabia.

Two Saudi nurses were randomly passing by Ha'il city when they noticed a man on the street struggling to breathe. Both women rushed to his aid, ultimately saving his life after he got involved in a car accident

Now identified as Mariam Al-Shammari and Wafa Al-Anzi, the two women realized the accident victim had swallowed his tongue during the accident and was choking on it.

In statements to local media outlets, both nurses shared details of the incident and relayed their experience.

Al-Shammari, who was on her way to visit her sister, spotted people surrounding a man lying on the side of the road in a semi-conscious state. The nurse immediately got out of her car and rushed to his aid.

She was later joined by Al-Anzi, who also happened to be passing by the area with her husband.

"We helped keep the man's esophagus open and he started breathing before the Red Crescent paramedics arrived and took him to hospital," Al-Shammari said.

Al-Anzi, who arrived at the scene seconds after her counterpart, revealed that the man bit her hand as she tried to get his tongue back in place. She nevertheless kept on pressing until he started breathing normally.

The nurse added that she didn't know Al-Shemmari prior to the incident, but the two have now become friends.

"I came to know Mariam at the place of this incident and since then we have become good friends. It was of course a sad incident but I am happy I was able to help out," she said.

Both women have since expressed their thanks to the emir of Ha'il, who praised and honored them for their bravery.

Many were proud of the women

"Angels of mercy"

"Good on them"

Some hailed authorities for honoring the two nurses

"They deserve to be hailed, honored, and respected. These are our girls, they set an example to be proud of."

Not the first time a female Saudi nurse is hailed after saving a life

This isn't the first time a female Saudi medic goes viral for saving someone's life during an emergency.

Last year, footage capturing a Saudi nursing student rushing to the aid of a man who collapsed in a mall in the city of Abha went viral online

The incident saw thousands hail the woman for handling the entire medical emergency before paramedics arrived at the scene.

After going viral, the young nursing student was honored by the kingdom's Red Crescent officials in Assir governorate.

In October, Sarah Al Maqo'i, another female Saudi nurse, helped save the lives of three car accident victims and was hailed by thousands after the footage circulated on Twitter.
