On Saturday, a Saudi man died of a heart attack after saving his two daughters from drowning in a pool in Jazan city, Sabq news site reported.
Now identified as Ahmad Ali Joubran Sharahili, the man complained of chest pain and breathing problems right after he - and several others - helped pull the girls out of the water.
The two sisters had fallen into the pool while the family was enjoying a day out in celebration of their son's graduation.
Speaking to the local news outlet, family relative Mohammed Ali Sharahili shared details of the tragic incident.
He also explained that the deceased had previously suffered from heart problems and had undergone an open heart surgery 10 years ago.
"The family was in a chalet celebrating their son's recent graduation when the incident took place. Even though the girls' father felt ill when he came out of the water, the first thing he asked about was his daughters. He asked to see them to make sure they were OK," he said.
Minutes later, the distressed father complained of chest pain and collapsed. He was transferred to a hospital, but died two days after the incident.
