Late on Thursday, Riyadh police announced the arrest of a Saudi man who was accused of "showing off his sins" and "inciting immorality" in now-viral social media videos, Sabq news site reported.
The news comes days after one of his latest videos, in which he criticized Islam, went viral on social media, sparking outrage across Saudi Arabia.
In their statement on the matter, authorities said the man was identified, tracked down, and arrested.
According to Sabq, the public prosecution office in the kingdom has been notified of the case and will be taking action against the man.
The defendant will now face charges under the kingdom's cybercrime law.
"The public prosecutor's office ordered the arrest of a young man who showed off his sins and incited immorality."
The man's viral videos had sparked outrage in the ultra-conservative kingdom
In many of his videos, the man criticized Islam and attacked the kingdom's enforcement of Sharia law, shocking thousands of his followers.
