For the first time, a woman has been assigned the role of spokesperson for Saudi Arabia's embassy in the United States. 

Former socioeconomic strategist and a director of the Arabia Foundation, Saudi national Fatimah S. Baeshen tweeted her new position as the kingdom announced that it was abandoning its driving ban for women. 

With contributions to news companies such as Arab News and TIME, Baeshen focuses on economic reform, human rights, private sector development, and civic engagement.

She's been living and working back and forth between the USA and GCC countries, until she recently relocated from Riyadh to Washington, D.C. 

Baeshen holds a Master's degree from the University of Chicago with a focus on Islamic Finance. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. 

These two decisions have been a total crowd pleaser:
